India Post, the state-owned postal department, offers the facility of the money order with which a person send money via electronic money order disbursal mode. Post Office electronic money order is a web-based rapid money transfer service offered by India Post between two individuals within India.

As Per India Post, the money booked through electronic money order can be disbursed within 24 hours and a person is allowed to send any amount between Re 1 and Rs 5,000.

The receiver can receive the payments in cash. In order to send or receive money via post office electronic money order, a person is required to have a postal savings bank account with the India Post linked with the registered account on India Post site.

The receiver is required to provide a relevant photo ID proof in order to confirm his/her identity. Documents such as voter’s I-card, PAN card, ration card with a photo of receiver, Post Office identity card, driving license, passport and any other approved/recognized central government/ state government/ PSU/ office/college/university ID Card are admissible in order to assess the identity of a person.

Step 2: Provide the details such as the receiver’s account number, amount.
Step 3: Pay the desired amount online.

Following the above steps, a receipt will be generated for your transaction with a unique transaction ID and money order number which can be used for further correspondence if required.
