The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister, who filed his nomination papers for Karhal on Monday, declared total assets worth Rs 40.02 crore. This includes cash in banks, as well as movable and immovable assets.

In his affidavit, Akhilesh Yadav declared that he has Rs 8.43 crore in various bank accounts and is the owner of 17.93 acres of land valued at several crores.

The Samajwadi Party chief owns non-agricultural property worth Rs 17.22 crores, as per the Election Commission of India (ECI).

He has also declared a bank loan of Rs 28.97 lakh as a liability in his poll affidavit.
