Chattisgarh’s new Chief Minister will be Vishnu Deo Sai, a seasoned tribal leader within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) since 1990. Vishnu Deo Sai, born on February 21, 1964, is the son of Shri Ram Prasad Sai and Smt Jashmani Devi.

He entered marital life in 1991 by tying the knot with Smt Kaushalya Devi. Blessed with a family, he has one son and two daughters. Vishnu Deo Sai’s residences include Bagiya and Kunkuri.

Vishnu Deo Sai CM of Chhattisgarh attended Loyola Higher Secondary School in Kunkuri, Jashpur, Chhattisgarh, for his Higher Secondary education. He is an agriculturist by profession.

Sai started his political career as a village sarpanch and rose to become a Union minister and multiple-time Lok Sabha MP besides getting important organizational roles.

Though he hails from a farming family based in a small village, Bagia, in the tribal-dominated Jashpur district, politics runs in the blood of the BJP leader. As of right now, he is 59 years old. Vishnu Deo Sai hails from the tribe of Kanwar. After attending the government school in Kunkuri and later graduated from Ambikapur, but he left school in the middle and went back to his village in 1988.


Beginning of the Vishnu Deo Sai’s political career-

Vishnu Deo Sai embarked on his political journey in Bagia village and served in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 1990 to 1998. He entered national politics in 1999 as a Member of the 13th Lok Sabha.

Over the years, he contributed to various parliamentary committees, including those on Food, Civil Supplies, Public Distribution, and Information Technology. Sai joined the Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly on December 3, 2023. Shortly after, on December 10, 2023, he was appointed Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, marking a significant milestone in his political career.

Vishnu Deo Sai’s family boasts a legacy in politics, with his grandfather and elder relatives contributing significantly to public service. His grandfather, the late Budhnath Sai, made significant contributions as a nominated Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from 1947 to 1952.

Continuing the family’s political legacy, Vishnu Deo Sai’s uncle, Narhari Prasad Sai, was associated with Jan Sangh, the predecessor of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Narhari Prasad Sai served as a two-term MLA from 1962 to 1967 and 1972 to 1977. His political journey extended to the national level, as he was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) from 1977 to 1979. Moreover, Narhari Prasad Sai held the position of Minister of State in the Janata Party government.

Adding to the family’s political endeavors, another elder brother of Vishnu Deo Sai’s father, the late Kedarnath Sai, was also affiliated with the Jan Sangh. Kedarnath Sai served as an MLA from Tapkara, making noteworthy contributions during his term from 1967 to 1972.

Vishnu Deo Sai’s wife is Kaushalya Devi, a social worker. Vishnu Deo Sai’s parents Ram Prasad Sai and Jashmani Devi are agriculturists. The Chief Minister-designate’s house was the center of festivities shortly after the news broke. “My son’s ability to serve Chhattisgarh makes me very happy,” exclaimed the delighted mother of Mr. Sai.

In the recently concluded Chhattisgarh Assembly Election 2023, Vishnu Deo Sai emerged victorious in the Kunkuri constituency of North Chhattisgarh, securing a win over the incumbent Congress MLA, UD Minj. This electoral season, Vishnu Deo Sai chose to contest from the Kunkuri seat, where he successfully defeated UD Minj, the sitting Congress MLA, with a substantial lead of 25,541 votes.

With another election result day behind us, Vishnu Deo Sai, representing the BJP, secured a triumph in Chhattisgarh’s Kunkuri seat, obtaining 87,604 votes, surpassing U.D. Minj of the INC who garnered 62,063 votes.

Chhattisgarh’s new chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai said his first decision will be to provide 18 lakh homes to the people of the state.

“…With all honesty I will work for ‘Sabka Vishwas’ & the promises made to the people of Chhattisgarh under ‘Modi Ki Guarantee’ will be fulfilled. As a CM of the state, we will try to fulfill the promises. The first work will be to give 18 lakh ‘Awas’ to the people,” Vishnu Deo Sai said. In his inaugural move as Chhattisgarh’s newly appointed Chief Minister, Vishnu Deo Sai has announced a significant initiative to deliver 18 lakh homes to the residents of the state. Expressing his commitment to the principle of ‘Sabka Vishwas,’ Sai affirms the fulfillment of promises made to the people under the ‘Modi Ki Guarantee.’

Vishnu Deo Sai’s net worth and Assets :

Chhattisgarh’s new Chief Minister, Vishnu Deo Sai, holds a cash reserve of Rs 3.5 lakh, while his wife maintains Rs 2.25 lakh in cash, resulting in a family cash total of Rs 8.5 lakh. Notably, Sai has diverse bank deposits, including Rs 1 lakh in the Bank of Baroda, Rs 82,000 in CG Rajya Gramin Bank, Rs 15,99,418 in SBI, and Rs 2,000 in Indian Bank. His wife holds a deposit of Rs 10.9 lakh in her State Rural Bank account.

The financial overview unveils that the Chief Minister has not ventured into shares, bonds, NSS, or Postal Savings, except for an investment in an LIC policy. His jewelry assets include 450 grams of gold, 2 kilograms of silver, and a 5 ratti diamond ring, valued at around Rs 30 lakh. Additionally, the CM’s wife possesses 200 grams of gold and 3 kilograms of silver.

Moreover, it’s noteworthy that the new CM requires a registered car. Vishnu Deo Sai’s net worth stands at Rs 3.8 crore, comprising assets like gold, silver, and real estate. He holds cultivable and non-agricultural land, a commercial building, and two residential houses. However, Sai has loans amounting to Rs 56 lakh, covering an agriculture loan from SBI and an SBI home loan.

Vishnu Deo Sai, BJP’s prominent tribal leader, is slated to be sworn in as Chhattisgarh’s new Chief Minister on December 13 in Raipur. Along with Sai taking the oath, several other ministers and two deputy chief ministers will also be inducted at this significant event. On December 13 at the Raipur Police Parade Ground, Deputy Chief Ministers Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma along with ministers will take an oath. It is expected that former chief minister Raman Singh will be appointed speaker of the Chhattisgarh assembly.

 The precise timing of the ceremony may align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s schedule, as hinted by the Chhattisgarh Governor’s invitation, emphasizing the strategic importance of the occasion. Governor Biswabhusan Harichandan extended his congratulations to Vishnu Deo Sai, officially handing over the appointment letter as the Chief Minister and inviting him to form the cabinet.

Vishnu Deo Sai, a loyalist of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, was promised to be made a ‘big man’ during the 2019 Lok Sabha campaign. Shah later appointed him as the state BJP president in 2020, succeeding Vikram Usendi. Having previously served as the state BJP chief from 2006 to 2010 and from 2014 to 2014, Sai emerged as a key figure in Chhattisgarh politics. 

Upon becoming the new Chief Minister, Sai, a Tribal leader and former Union Minister, affirmed the Bharatiya Janata Party’s commitment to honesty and pledged to fulfill guarantees made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During a recent poll rally in Kunkuri, Amit Shah urged voters to elect Sai, assuring to elevate him to a “big man” status if the BJP regained power in the state. As Chhattisgarh’s Chief Minister, Vishnu Deo Sai replaced Raman Singh, who transitioned to the role of the Speaker of the state assembly, while BJP leaders Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma assumed the positions of Deputy Chief Ministers.
