Jaya Prada Non Bailable Warrant issued
Rampur Police have set up a team, led by an inspector, to execute a Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) issued against BJP leader and actor Jaya Prada. Jaya Prada is a renowned Indian film actress and politician with a dynamic career spanning multiple film industries, including Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Bengali, and Malayalam. Jaya’s cinematic journey began in 1974 with the Telugu film “Bhoomi Kosam,” marking the onset of a successful and illustrious acting career.
The NBW is in relationship with two cases involving violations of the model code of conduct. As per Rampur Superintendent of Police Rajesh Dwivedi, the police have been unsuccessful in locating the actor-politician, who has been avoiding court proceedings related to the two criminal cases.
In compliance with the court order, a special team headed by an inspector has been formed to ensure Jaya Prada appears before the judge by January 10. However, as of now, the team has not been able to locate her.
The warrant was issued by the judge after Jaya Prada failed to appear for her trial despite being given many opportunities. The cases against her pertain to violations of the code of conduct during the 2019 elections when she contested and lost the Rampur seat on a BJP ticket.
One case is of inaugurating a road in Noorpur village on April 19, 2019, in violation of the code, registered in the constituency’s Swar area. The second case was registered by Kemri police station, and involves allegation of objectionable remarks made by her at a public meeting in Pipliya Mishra village. Investigations in both cases are complete, and charge sheets have been filed against her in the MP-MLA Special Court.
Jaya Prada has also actively ventured into politics. In 1994, she was elected to the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the Indian Parliament, and later joined the Samajwadi Party. Subsequently, she served as a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha, the upper house of the Indian Parliament.
